Depart from Kigali early in the morning (around 4:30 AM) and enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 2-3 hours from Kigali to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters. Upon arrival, meet your guide for a briefing about the hike. After the briefing, drive 40 minutes to the trailhead. You will have the opportunity to hire porters to help you with your extra luggage. Start the hike to Mount Bisoke, which is at an elevation of 3,711 meters (about 22,373 feet). The round-trip hike takes approximately 6-7 hours. Trek through lush vegetation, crossing bamboo forests and open meadows. Reach the summit and be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and the stunning Crater Lake.
