Start early in the morning at 4:30am from Kigali and drive 2-3 hours to the Volcanoes National Park, where Dian Fossey's tomb is located. The morning begins by reporting to the Kinigi Park Office at 7:00 AM to meet the ranger guides for a briefing. Around 8:00 AM, a 30-minute drive takes you to the starting point of the Mount Bisoke trek, located just outside the park at the car parking area. At the beginning of the hike, you will be given a walking stick free of charge and there will be available porters whom you can hire to carry your bags and assist you during the trek. After spending some time at the research centre, you will begin your descent back to the starting point. From there, you will drive to a local restaurant for lunch before returning to Kigali.
