Overview

Explore one of the world’s most beautiful and unspoiled mountain rain-forests on our 4-Day tour to Nyungwe National Park; a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the southwest Rwanda, partly abutting the Burundi border. It’s a vast area of mountain rainforest, home to many species of Primates such as chimpanzees, Black and White Colobus Monkeys to name but a few. The 5-hour drive from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park rewards you with stunning views of nature and local communities.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our designated meet-and-greet lounge host, who will help you with Immigration procedures and luggage collection. Please look for a white signboard with your name. Thereafter, you will be handed over to our waiting driver guide, who will transfer you to your hotel for check-in, dinner and overnight. Lodging: Kigali Serena Hotel (Luxury), Hotel Des Milles Collines (Midrange) or Chez Lando Hotel (Budget) Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Kigali Genocide Museum and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park via the King’s Palace Museum

Early morning after breakfast, kick-off your Rwanda trip with a moving visit at Kigali Genocide Museum;a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of remembrance and reflection. Learn about Rwanda's tragic history and the resilience of its people. Here you will pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi and gain a deeper understanding of the country's journey towards healing and reconciliation. After this emotional visit at Kigali Genocide Memorial, take in Rwanda’s beautiful countryside on the drive to Nyungwe National Park, located in the South-western side of Rwanda. En-route, you’ll stop by the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza, where you will meet ‘Inyambo’; the famed Royal long-horned cows. Enjoy lunch in the town of Huye before continuing your journey through green tea fields scattered on the hillsides and past small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest. Upon arrival at your base, check-in, dinner and rest. Lodging: One & Only Nyungwe House (Luxury), Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel (Midrange) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Trail Hike

As early as 5:00 am, join your park guide for a memorable Chimpanzee trekking experience in Cyamudongo Forest. Learn about these unique primates- the closest relative to humans with 96 % of our DNA. When the trekking is finished, return to your base for a refreshment lunch. Afternoon head out for the hike of the canopy walk- a high suspension bridge 70 metres above the rainforest floor. Visitors get up and close with nature and are rewarded with spectacular views over the forest canopy and distant glimpse of the evergreen mountains and Lake Kivu’s glimmering waters in the distance, amazing birdlife and butterflies. When the hike is finished, return to your base for dinner and overnight stay. Lodging: One & Only Nyungwe House (Luxury), Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel (Midrange) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and International Departure

On this day after breakfast, farewell to Nyungwe forest as you drive back to Kigali and onwards to Kigali Airport. Drop-off and departure. END OF THE TOUR!
