Lake Kivu is one of the Great Lakes in Africa and the largest of the freshwater Lakes that gleam in the Albertine (Western) rift of the Great Rift Valley. The lake stands at 1,461m (4,790ft) above sea level and is Africa’s highest lake, surrounded by majestic mountains with soothing sandy beaches and gently pounding waves, which makes it a perfect place to take a break and rest. Here, you can sit back in the shades of giant trees, enjoy local food and reflect back on your daily routines.
Early morning meet and greet with your driver guide at 7AM for a quick briefing ahead of a 3 hours road transfer to the Western side of Rwanda, to visit the beautiful resort of Rubavu; a border town located on the shores of Lake Kivu, between Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Upon arrival, explore Lake Kivu from a private guided boat cruise, with a detour at the Nyamyumba Hot Springs for a body cleansing/massage experience. Later, have a delicious local meal, followed by a drive through the town; including a stop at La Corniche/Grande Barrière and the busiest border point of Petite Barrière. You will have time as well to stroll, unwind or sunbathe at the beachside. When the tour is finished, travel back to Kigali. Drop-off at your residence hotel. END OF THE TOUR!
