Akagera National Park is located in the Eastern part of Rwanda, covering an area of approximately 1,200 square kilometers. It is named after the Akagera River, which flows along its eastern boundary. The park is a unique blend of savannah plains, rolling hills, lakes and swamps, creating a diverse ecosystem that supports a wide range of wildlife.
Home to numerous other fascinating animals, you might come across Elephants, Lions, Rhios, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Waterbucks, Topis, and Warthogs grazing in the open grasslands. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 500 bird species, including the iconic fish eagle, herons, ibises, and kingfishers.
At around 5:00 AM, your driver guide will meet you from your residence hotel and drive you to Akagera National Park, which is located in the Eastern part of Rwanda. The drive takes approximately 2.5hours. Upon arrival, you will register at the Park headquarters before kicking-off your morning Game Drive in the African savannah. During your Game Drive in Akagera National Park, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, rhinos, crocodiles and many other animals. Herds of elephants and buffalos emerge from woodland to drink at the lakes. You may also stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena, or even a stray lion. Have a picnic lunch form Mihindi Cafe and then enjoy more Game viewing in the early afternoon before driving back to Kigali. END OF THE TOUR !
