The Dian Fossey Tomb Hike and Gorilla trekking offer two different ways to experience Rwanda’s mountain gorilla heritage. The Fossey hike focuses on conservation history, forest hiking and visiting the former Karisoke Research Center and Dian Fossey’s gravesite.

Gorilla trekking, on the other hand, is focused on finding and observing a habituated mountain gorilla family in its natural habitat. Gorilla sightings are not included in the Dian Fossey hike, and travellers who want this experience need to arrange a separate gorilla trekking permit.
