Tea Tour Experience in Rwanda takes you to Pfunda Tea Estate company which is the largest and most renowned tea estate company in Rwanda producing the highest volume of its Tea. Lying below the Virunga volcano, the tea estate gets most of its fertile soil for tea growing from the erupted soils of the Volcanos which helps to contribute to a higher tea quality in the region. The Pfunda tea estate plantation stretches into hundreds of hectares and farmers can be seen planting, tending or harvesting tea depending on the period of visitation which an enthusiastic traveler may also wish to divulge into.
TEA TOUR EXPERIENCE AT PFUNDA – FULL ITINERARY
Meet and greet your driver early morning. Afterwards, head to the Northwestern side of Rwanda, about 3-4hours drive from Kigali. A number of selected en route stops will be made for you to admire the natural beauty of Rwanda’s hilly landscapes. Rwanda is one of the best tea growers worldwide. Charming tea estates can widely be spotted when you travel; among others, along the Kivu Belt Road and Congo Nile Trail.
On arrival, meet local farmers and enjoy the 2-hour Tea tour experience with Pfunda Tea Cooperative, going through the whole process of tea making, all the way from tea leaves picking to having a cup of hot drinking tea! After this splendid experience, drive 10-15drive to Lake Kivu Serena hotel or any other restaurant around for lunch.
Later, you’ll be taken for a quick city tour before heading back to Kigali. The city tour includes some of the WW1 landmarks, a visit to one of Africa’s busiest borders, in between Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as well as one of the local markets. Drop-off at your residence and end of the tour.
