Overview

The Tea Tour Experience in Rwanda takes you to Pfunda Tea Estate, the largest and most renowned tea estate company in Rwanda. The estate is located below the Virunga Volcanoes and gets its fertile soil from the erupted soils of the volcanoes. This helps to contribute to the high quality of tea produced at the estate. The Pfunda tea estate plantation stretches over hundreds of hectares and farmers can be seen planting, tending, or harvesting tea depending on the period of visitation. An enthusiastic traveller may also wish to participate in these activities.

During the tour, you will learn about the history and process of tea production. You will also have the opportunity to sample different types of Rwandan tea. The Tea Tour Experience is a great way to learn about Rwanda’s tea industry and to experience the beauty of the country’s countryside.

A number of selected en route stops will be made for you to admire the natural beauty of Rwanda’s hilly landscapes. Rwanda is one of the best tea growers worldwide. Charming tea estates can widely be spotted when you travel; among others, along the Kivu Belt Road and Congo Nile Trail.

On arrival, meet local farmers and enjoy the 2-hour Tea tour experience with Pfunda Tea Cooperative, going through the whole process of tea making, all the way from tea leaves picking to having a cup of hot drinking tea!
