Embark on a 2-day expedition of chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park, an exceptionally conserved rainforest park. The forest is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including 13 species of primates, over 280 bird species, and various plant species. Nyungwe Forest National Park, established in 2004, is widely recognized as Rwanda’s foremost destination for chimpanzee tracking.
Here is a detailed itinerary for the 2-day Nyungwe Forest Park Chimpanzee Tracking
Begin your day in Kigali or at the airport with an early morning breakfast. Your driver will collect you and take you on a journey to the southern province, where you will reach Nyungwe Forest National Park. The drive will last around 5 hours, allowing you to take in the beautiful landscape of hills and forests. Once you arrive, you will check in to your accommodation. In the afternoon, you will experience the incredible Canopy Walk, which provides an aerial view of the forest. In the evening, you will return to your lodging for dinner and spend the night.
Enjoy an early morning breakfast. Your driver/guide will take you to the park headquarters, where the park guide will brief you on the chimpanzee tracking activity. Following that, you will begin your 2-4 hour chimpanzee tracking adventure, during which you will have the opportunity to observe the chimpanzees in their natural habitat for an hour. After finishing the chimpanzee tracking, you will return to your lodge and prepare for the trip back to Kigali with your driver.
