Mountain gorilla trekking is undoubtedly the highlight of your typical safari to Rwanda on this 7 Days Primates expedition. The Volcanoes National park located in the northern province of Ruhengeri is a destined place where every visitor goes for this amazing gorilla trekking adventure. The highly endangered mountain gorillas were first discovered by Dian Fossey an American zoologist during her research study in the park 13 years ago. With her persistent efforts of fighting against gorilla poaching, this explains why she is a highly respected figure in as far as gorilla conservation in Rwanda is concerned (you can read her book Gorillas in the Mist).

You will search for the allocated gorilla family for about 1-6 hours until you meet these gentle giants. Please remember that only 8 visitors are allowed to visit a particular gorilla family per day. After spending a full hour with the gorillas, you will hike back to the hotel and relax as you retreat from the fateful gorilla trekking adventure.

Best Time to Visit Rwanda

The best time for Rwanda gorilla trekking and other wildlife viewing tours is during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda. The habitat of rainforests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely.
