This 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Expedition will take you for a gorilla trekking and golden monkeys tracking experience in the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s major tourist destination. You will also visit the Rwanda cultural communities such as Iby’iwacu cultural village and also have a brief tour of the city of Kigali. This tour will begin and end in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital.

ARRIVE IN KIGALI, RWANDA TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Expedition)

Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will meet with our representative at airport customs and immigration office to welcome you to the Land of Thousand Hills. You will proceed to the hotel in Kigali for check-in followed by dinner.

GORILLA TREKKING / RELAXATION IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Expedition)

Today your day begins with an early breakfast at 04:30 am and then drive to the Volcanoes National Park offices for Gorilla Trekking briefing that takes place at 7:00 am. You will then start your walk at 8:00 am.

Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp, and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young.
You will return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon will be at relaxation. Dinner and overnight

GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING/IBY’IWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE (4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Expedition)

Early in the morning at 06:00 am you will have breakfast and transfer to RDB park offices for golden monkey trekking briefing that takes place at 07:00 am. You will then start your walk at 8:00 am.

There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. As with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys.
After the golden monkey trekking activity, you will return to the lodge for lunch. You will enjoy cultural entertainment at Iby’iwacu cultural village in the afternoon.

IBYIWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE is changing traditional perceptions of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have lived on bush meat, poaching for generations. The village provides tourists experiences beyond wildlife viewing, the people, culture and how they live. The village also gives a chance to the visitors to enjoy the eight different local dances, listen to Gorilla songs, local food preparations, visit the local healer, visit the king’s place and get to hear all the old stories. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

TRANSFER TO KIGALI, DEPARTURE

This morning after breakfast you will transfer back to Kigali for your departure flight.

KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL CENTRE:

The Kigali Memorial exists as a permanent memorial to those who became victim to the genocide in 1994. It deals with a topic of international importance, with far-reaching significance, and is designed to engage and challenge an international visitor base.  Here you will be able to visit the three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide in 1994 and pay tribute to the victims of the genocide.
You will break off for lunch at hotel des Mille Collines

KIMIRONKO MARKET:

Kimironko market is one of the largest local markets in Kigali, where you will meet our local vegetable vendors and behold the succulent fruit and vegetables and try out your bargaining power at food shopping in Kigali. Here you will get the opportunity to get a feeling of how an African market operates.

INEMA ARTS CENTER:

PRESIDENTIAL MUSEUM:

Located in Kigali about 2 km from Kigali International Airport, the Palace served as home to Juvenal Habyarimana and Pasteur Bizimungu during the 1970s up to the late 1990s. The Presidential Palace Museum is one of the new museums in Kigali. It gives visitors a chance to visit the former state house as well as gain an overview of Rwanda’s history; one can also visit some of the flight debris of the FALCON 50 presidential plane that went down on 6th April 1994.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST GENOCIDE MUSEUM (CAG):

Campaign Against Genocide Museum is a museum located in the Parliamentary building, in Kigali just 800 meters behind conventional center road point, and just 4.9km, 9 minutes’ drive from Kanombe Airport. H.E Paul Kagame opened this campaign against Genocide Museum officially on 13th December 2017.

CAG Museum is built in the Parliamentary building which was once known as Conseil National de Development because this building hosted the Rwandan Patriotic Front politicians and the 600 man protection force (3BN) from 28th December 1993 as they were in the preparations for the installation of Broad-Based Transitional Government and the National Transitional Assembly and these 600 man protection force the (3BN) were the ones given the order first on 07/04/1994 by the RPA Chairman of High Command Major General Paul Kagame to break out from their initial positions defend themselves and rescue victims of Genocide in their vicinity when campaign against Genocide began

CAG Museum depicts in details how the Campaign Against Genocide Plan was executed by RPF/A following the withdrawal of UN troops leaving the targeted Tutsi under the mercy of the Genocidaires and how only the RPF/A forces who were in the war of liberation took the unilateral decision to stop Genocide, Rescue victims of Genocide and defeat the Genocidal forces. This CAG Museum also has its outer part comprised of monuments including that of the 12.7mm Machine Gun that helped in containing the advancing genocidal forces. Depending on your flight time you be transferred to the airport for your departure flight out of Kigali.
